Summary

Core responsibilities
  • Reading and interpreting technical documents: Welders read blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and plan their work.
  • Preparing and setting up: This includes cleaning, cutting, grinding, and positioning metal parts and components using hand tools, clamps, and jigs before welding.
  • Performing welding: Welders use specialized equipment, such as arc, MIG, and TIG welders, to join metal pieces according to specifications.
  • Inspecting and quality control: They must inspect their welds for strength and quality, ensuring they meet all safety and project standards and identifying any defects.
