Summary

The controls project engineer is an experienced and disciplined position focused on all aspects of controls system design (hardware and software) and project management. This role bridges the gap between technical execution and project management, ensuring that control system designs, programming, integration, and commissioning are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Coordinate internal controls engineering teams, external integrators, and equipment suppliers to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
  • Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and progress meetings, identifying potential roadblocks and developing mitigation strategies.
  •  Act as the primary technical point of contact for controls issues throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage change orders, resolve technical discrepancies, and facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present regular project status updates to management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper documentation is generated and maintained for all controls systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical, pneumatic, and water systems.
    o Experience in automotive manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to understand and apply electrical, pneumatic, and water calculation formulas.
  • Prior experience designing electrical, pneumatic, and water systems using AutoCAD or equivalent.
    o Experience integrating welding technologies is a plus.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow/implement specific customer standards relating to controls design.
  • Able to read and understand PLC logic.
  • Ability to interface with all engineering disciplines, shop trades, and customers.
  • Must be a highly organized person able to handle multiple projects at one time.
  • Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must understand and follow safety & environmental regulations and identify safety/environmental concerns.
  • Must adhere to the Quality System and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Must have a professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capabilities
